• Click a tile adjacent to the empty space to slide it into that gap.
• Plan two or three moves ahead rather than sliding tiles reactively one at a time.
• Use the mouse exclusively here, since there's no keyboard input involved in the sliding mechanic.
• Zoom in mentally on the reference image to track which tiles belong near the edges.
• Switch between the three modes once you've got a feel for the basic sliding pattern.
• Pause for a second before each move rather than clicking tiles rapidly and losing track of your plan.

Score-Boosting Tactics

Working from the corners of the puzzle inward tends to be faster than solving tiles in the order they happen to be out of place, since corner pieces are easier to confirm as correct. Counting your moves as you go and trying to beat your own count on a repeat attempt turns even a simple slide puzzle into something worth replaying, especially once you've cleared all three drift-car images at least once.
